Howard Leslie Sadler was born on January 7, 1920, in San Juan, Texas. He was the son of Leslie Hugh Sadler and Paternella Arnolda Doedyns Sadler.

Howard served in the 705th Bomber Squadron, 446th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and Bombardier of the B24 42-51116 'Nature's Nymph' in World War II. On June 7, 1944, his airplane crashed at Rumburgh, England, killing eight members of his crew. Howard was able to parachute to safety and survived the war. He died on November 16, 2010, at the age of 90, in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. He is now buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska.
