Paul Winkelman, aged 20, was born on February 7, 1924. He served in the 705th Bomber Squadron, 446th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Waist Gunner of the B24 42-51116 'Nature's Nymph' in World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 7, 1944, when the aircraft he was aboard crashed into Rumburgh, England. He is now buried in the Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale, Suffolk County, New York, USA.

His name is commemorated on a plaque at the St. Michael's Church in Rumburgh, England, but his surname is spelled Winkleman.
