Hulbert Hugh Robertson was born on June 13, 1920, in Comanche County, Texas. He was the son of James Michael Robertson and Ilena Louisa White Robertson. He was married to Velma Ruth Stewart Hornsby.

Hulbert served in the 16th Squadron, 64th Troop Carrier Group, and was a crew member on the B-26 Marauder #41-34765 that belongs to the 476th Bombardment Squadron, 335th Bombardment Group. On June 4, 1943, their aircraft crashed into the slopes of Carn Llidi, overlooking Whitesands in Wales, UK, killing all four crew members while on the final stage of a ferry flight to the UK from the United States via South America and Africa. 2Lt Robertson is now buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom. He also has a cenotaph located in Taylors Chapel Cemetery, Beattie, Comanche County, Texas.
