Albert Elmer Mitchell was born on December 15, 1921, at Burlington Junction, Missouri. He was a graduate of the Horace Mann high school and a member of the junior class at the State Teachers College when he left for army service in August 1942. He was later transferred to the air corps and received his wings in November 1943 at Waco, Tex. He had been overseas since June 1944 and was a pilot on a C-27 transport plane.
1Lt was Killed in Action on March 24, 1945, over Germany. He is now buried in the Ohio Cemetery, Burlington Junction, Nodaway County, Missouri, USA.
