Arthur William Pflugh was born on January 7, 1917, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Arthur Lemoine Pflug and Mary Luella Hineman Pflugh. He was married to Vera Popp Blum.

Arthur enlisted on 27 November 1942 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He served in the 702nd Tank Destroyer Battalion as a Private during World War II. He died in Germany on September 19, 1944, at the age of 27. He was declared Missing in Action and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands. Pvt Pflugh was one of the 65 soldiers killed in battle during the liberation of the Limburg region of the Netherlands and Belgium.
