Clifton Bernard Brickson was born on February 29, 1920, in Grand Forks County, North Dakota. He was the son of
Bernt Martinus Brickson and
Clara Emile Grani Brickson. On January 12, 1942, he was married to Miss Phyllis Olson of Grand Forks, N.D.
Clifton entered the service on April 3, 1942, and received his basic training at Camp Roberts, Cal. The first part of July in 1942 he was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash; from there he was sent to Alaska and took part in the battle of Attu. In May 1943, he returned to the United States and was stationed at Camp Hale, Colo, where he was in the Norwegian battalion. In the first part of September, he was sent to England and was one of the first invasion troops which landed in France in June 1944. He was in the infantry with the First Army.
Serving in the 99th Infantry Battalion (Separate), He was Killed in Action on September 14, 1944, and is now buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, Becker County, Minnesota, USA. He was killed in battle during the Canal Drive in September 1944 liberation of Belgian Limburg.
