Joseph A. Surowiec was born in 1907 in New York. He was assigned as Rifleman (Military Occupation Specialty 745) in Company A, 38th Armored Infantry Battalion, 7th Armored Division during World War II. His last duty was on November 5, 1944, probably near Ospel, Holland. He died at the 48th Field Hospital on November 9, 1944, from the wounds he received in battle in the vicinity of Tongres, Belgium. Pvt Surowiec is now buried in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, Erie County, New York, USA.
