Edward Albert Ladwig was born on December 11, 1920, in Illinois. He was the son of Albert Jacob Ladwig and Elizabeth Theresa Jahntz Janachewski Ladwig.

Pfc Ladwig was assigned as Light Mortar Crewman (Military Occupation Specialty 607) in Troop B, 87th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron (Mechanized), 7th Armored Division during World War II. He was Killed in Action on November 6, 1944, in the vicinity of Ospel, Netherlands, and is now buried in the Saint Mary Cemetery and Columbarium, Elmhurst, DuPage County, Illinois, USA.
