Garret Henry "Garry" Graff was born on July 27, 1922, in Rutland, South Dakota. He was the son of Frank Albert Graff and Elsie Anna Woldt Graff.

Pvt Graff was assigned as Light Machine Gunner (Military Occupation Specialty 604) in Company A, 40th Tank Division, 7th Armored Division during World War II. He was Killed in Action on November 2, 1944, in the vicinity of Ospel, Netherlands, and is now buried in the Lake Madison Lutheran Cemetery, Rutland, Lake County, South Dakota, USA.
