Aloysius Gonsowki was born on November 25, 1917 and was from Erie County, NY.

He served in Company C, 48th Armored Intatry Battlion of the 7th Amored Division. On October 5, 1944, he was killed along with his fellow soldier, PFC George Renda during the "Battle of Overloon". Both soldiers were originally listed as missing in action and listed on the Tablet of the Missing at The Netherlands American Cemetery. In 1977, the bodies of both soldiers were discovered and their bodies repatriated to American cemeteries.
Gonsowski is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery in Belgium.
When an individual’s remains have been accounted for by the U.S. Department of Defense, a rosette is placed next to the name on the Wall/Tablet/Court of the Missing to mark that the person now rests in a known gravesite.

A memorial in Overloon, Netherlands remembers the soldiers.
