Harold H. Frederick was born on November 17, 1921, in Providence, Kentucky. He was the son of Marion M. Frederick and Essie Mae Newman Frederick.

Harold served in the 336th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant during World War II. On June 6, 1944, he was shot down by flak but survived the crash, evaded capture, and returned to duty. He was killed in a flight accident on May 29, 1945, while piloting his P-51 Mustang #44-72181. On a routine ferry mission to the Speke Depot, the flight encountered severe weather with zero visibility down to the deck. While attempting to get below the cloud cover and locate a field, his aircraft struck the side of a mountain, killing 1Lt Frederick. The crash site was near Crewe, England.

1Lt Frederick is now buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Clay, Webster County, Kentucky, USA.
