Robert G. Fischer was born on November 4, 1923, in St. Louis, Missouri. He entered military service in Florida. He served in the 335th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, as a Second Lieutenant and pilot of the P-51 #42-106940, during World War II.
On August 8, 1944, his aircraft was struck by flak in the coolant system while strafing an airdrome in Sola, Norway. He attempted to make it to Sweden, but his aircraft crashed southeast of Sola.
2Lt Fischer is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupré, Belgium.
