Harvie J. Arnold was born on February 10, 1925. He graduated from Central High School. He served in the 336th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, as Second Lieutenant and pilot of the P-51 Mustang #44-13307 VF*J "Butch" during World War II.

On June 18, 1944, 2Lt Arnold took off from Station 356 airfield in Debden, England, on a sweep mission. At 9:10 PM, his plane was struck in the coolant system by flak. He formed up on departing aircraft, but the engine began soon to falter. Cpt Arnold attempted a belly landing, but his plane hanged on a tree and ignited. The place of the crash landing was in La Dibois - Cne de Baguer-Morvan - 2 km SO from Dol-de-Bretagne, France.

Cpt Arnold is now buried in the Britton Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, USA. His name is listed on the Anglo-American Memorial in Saffron Walden in England, but his first name is spelled "Harvis."
