Richard M. Burdick was born on December 18, 1923. He was a graduate of Boardman high school an honor student, and graduated at the age of 16 years. He served in the 378th Fighter Squadron, 362nd Fighter Group as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. 2LT Burdick was killed at Westover Field, Massachusetts, in a taxiing accident when another Thunderbolt ran into his and its propeller smashed into Burdick's cockpit. He is now buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio, USA.
