Robert Leon “Bobby” Jones was born on September 20, 1983 in Milwaukie, Oregon. He graduated from Rex Putnam High School and joined the military because he wanted to serve his country and get money for college. He was assigned to the 40th Engineer Battalion, Baumholder, Germany.Jones was killed when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. This was his second tour in Iraq and he was suppose to be there for only four weeks to give other soldiers a break, then return to Germany or Kuwait. CPL Jones died on June 17, 2006, at the age of 22, and is now buried in the Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, USA.
