Michael S. Lammerts was born on January 4, 1985 in Fort Polk, Louisiana. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 84th Field Artillery Regiment, 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Baumholder, Germany. He died on April 4, 2011, at the age of 26, of wounds suffered from small arms fire in Faryab Province, Afghanistan. He is now buried in the Elmlawn Cemetery, Tonawanda, Erie County, New York, USA.
