Carlo Escoto Alfonso was born on September 4, 1984 in the Philippines. He moved to Spokane, WA from the Philippines in 1997. He was educated there and married Rosemarie on December 26, 2007. Carlo was employed by Northern Quest Casino until he decided to join the US Military. He graduated as a combat engineer at Fort Lenard Wood, Missouri in 2006. Carlo then returned to Spokane where he worked at the Spokane Valley Mall Army Recruiting Station as a Volunteer Recruiter. After a short 2 week stay, he was sent to Baumholder, Germany. Then deployed to Sadr City Iraq for a 15 month tour, where he tragically lost his life on August 26, 2008. CPL Alfonso died of injuries sustained when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Sadr City, Iraq. He is now buried in the Riverside Memorial Park, Spokane, Spokane County, Washington, USA.
