Ja'Mel Antwon Bryant was born on May 12, 1986. He attended Belleville West High School in Belleville, Illinois. In 2006, he decided to join the Army in order to make a better man of himself and in April he was sent to Iraq where he had been serving as a combat engineer. SPC Bryant was assigned to the 40th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany. He died of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident while on patrol in Wahida, Iraq. He is now buried in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA.
