Richard W. Miller was born on August 20, 1925 in New York. He resided in Clifton, Monroe County, New York prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on January 11, 1944 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in a machine shop and also as Single, without dependents.
Richard served in the 368th Bomber Squadron, 306th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Tail Gunner of the B-17 #43-37633 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on December 15, 1944 when his plane, on return from Kassel, Germany, was involved in a mid-air collision with #43-38019 due to bad weather and extremely poor visibility over Greenham Common, UK. It is apparent that neither pilot saw the the other aircraft. SGT Miller is now buried in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Ogden, Monroe County, New York, USA.
