Edwin Barnett Marcum was born on December 21, 1919 in Kentucky. He was the son of Joseph Marcum and Una Alice Gregory Marcum. Edwin was a member of G Company, 2nd Battlion, 357th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division. He landed on the beaches of Normandy sometime between the 8th and 10th of June 1944. He was wounded once on 8 August 1944 and a second time 8 October 1944. He served in the campaigns of Northern France, the Rhineland, and Alsace. He was killed assaulting the Sonlez Mill in Luxembourg against battle hardened German paratroopers. PFC Marcum is now buried in the Elk Spring Cemetery, Monticello, Wayne County, Kentucky, USA
