John Edward Holland was born on June 19, 1921 in Andrews, North Carolina. He was the son of Marcus McLain Holland and Eda Belle Frazier Holland. He enlisted in the Army April 1, 1941 at Fort Oglethorpe, GA and served in the 357th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division as a Technician 4th Grade during World War II. T4 Holland was Killed in Action on January 11, 1945, at the age of 23, during the liberation of Sonlez, Luxembourg. He is now buried in the Valleytown Cemetery, Andrews, Cherokee County, North Carolina, USA.
