Robert W. Jeffries was born on December 11, 1916 in Pennsboro, West Virginia. He was the son of Walter Jeffries and Janie Kirkpatrick Jeffries. He served in the 11th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division as a Private First Class during World War II. PFC Jeffries died on January 23, 1945, at the age of 28, and is now buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery, Luxembourg. He was one of the 38 American soldiers killed during the fierce fighting at sub-zero temperatures to recapture the town of Hoscheid, Luxembourg.
