Clifford William Hare was born on March 21, 1920 in Benzonia, Michigan. He was the son of Clifford Welton Hare and Flora Ann Hare Bailey Hoag. He served in the 382nd Fighter Squadron as a Technical Sergeant during World War II. Pilot of P-51B #42-106665, he was killed in the crash of his plane at sea on April 15, 1944, 5 miles east of Colchester, Essex, England. His body was never found and his name is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
