Maurice W. Hollowell, aged 22, was born on July 27, 1921. He attended the local high school and junior college and the University of California at Berkeley. He enlisted in December 1941 and was trained at Lowry Field and San Antonio, Texas.

Maurice served in the 380th Fighter Squadron as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was the pilot of the B-7 #43-6993 which took off from station 413. He flew in the No.4 position of the Red flight of the Hassock section led by 1LT Ernest L. Nicholas. Due to an unknown circumstance, the plane emitted smoke and caught fire. The pilot tried to jump towards 800 feet, but the parachute did not open. He is buried now in the Fairhaven Memorial Park, California, USA.
