Eugene Samuel Erickson, aged 29, was born on October 26, 1918 in Wisconsin. He was the son of Samuel David Erickson and Marie Pulcherie Elizabeth Desjardin Erickson. Eugene served as a First Lieutenant in the US Air Forces during the Berlin Airlift. His C-54 supply plane crashed three miles from Rhein Main Air Force Base on October 18, 1948. It was the first air crash with fatalities during the operation. 1LT Erickson is buried now in the Saint John Cemetery, Collinsville, Madison County, Illinois, USA.
