Robert Walter Hatcher was born on August 10, 1920 in Houston, Minnesota. He served in the 86th Troop Squadron, 437th Troop Carrier Group as a Flight Officer during World War II. On May 13, 1945, aboard Piper L-4A #42-36408, he was killed with 2Lt James Andrew Kintner in an accidental plane crash in Pierre-Levee, France. F/O Hatcher is buried now in the Forest Park Cemetery, Houston, Harris County, Texas, USA. His name is commemorated on a plaque located at the Holy Cross Church in Ramsbury, England but his middle name's initial is inscribed as T.
