Alfred J. Knap was born on August 25, 1922. He was the son of Jakob Knap and Agata Formanek. He served in the 3rd Replacement and Training Squadron as a Sergeant during World War II. He died on June 21, 1944, at the age of 21, and was buried in the Lisnabreeny Former American Military Cemetery in England. The cemetery closed in 1948 and his remains were exhumed and transferred. SGT Knap is buried now in the Saint Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Niles, Cook County, Illinois, USA.
