357th Fighter Group Roll of Honor
William C. Reese, aged 22, was born on September 29, 1921. He served in the 364th Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group as a Captain during World War II. The pilot of the P51B Mustang #43-12313 "Bear River Betsy" aircraft, CPT Reese was Killed-in-Action on May 21, 1944, when his plane was downed by flak near Stralsund, Germany, while strafing and crashed at Drigge Gustow, Germany. CPT Reese has been buried now in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupré, Belgium. He also has a cenotaph located in Brigham City Cemetery, Brigham City, Box Elder County, Utah. His name is listed on the Leiston Airfield Memorial in England, but his surname is spelled "Reece."
