Alvin F. Pyeatt, III served in the 362nd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group as a Second Lieutenant in World War II. He was killed in the crash aboard his P-51B #43-6960 'Scrappy' plane, near Reutlingen, Germany, on March 16, 1944, after encountering 3 ME109s on a bomber support mission to southern Germany. His current burial place is unknown.
