Alfred W. Bierweiler served in the 362nd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was killed in a training accident while carrying out a practice attack against a B-17 in his P-51D #44-11190 'Lady Ovella'. His plane crashed 5 miles East of Ipswich on May 21, 1945.
