Daniel P. Habas was born on August 25, 1948, the son of Felix and Clara Habas of Louisville, KY. He moved to Louisville in 1954 with his parents. He attended St. Xavier High School and the University of Louisville, J. B. Speed School of Engineering. Captain Habas was commissioned into the U.S. Air Force on June 1, 1971. Prior to his service at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany on January 7, 1979 he served at Mather AFB, California, Luke AFB, Arizona, Ubon AFB, Thailand, and Eglin AFB, Florida. Daniel died on March 24, 1980 at the age of 31 in a crash in Bensfield, Germany and is now buried in the Calvary Cemetery, Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, USA.
