William Dean Alcorn was born on March 23, 1951 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the son of Emil Earl Alcorn and Alyce Elizabeth Long Alcorn. He served in the US Army Air Forces as a Captain. On March 25, 1981, Major Douglas R. Withers, pilot, and Capt. William D. Alcorn of the 480th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Spangdahlem crashed into the Hesselberg near Gerolfingen in Germany. Both crewmembers were killed. Captain Alcorn is now buried in the River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia, Illinois.
