Robert Ivan "Nova" Lopez, was born on November 16, 1969 in Honduras. At the time of his death, he was serving the 82nf Fighter Squadron as a Captain. He was killed in a plane crash while on a training mission in France on June 27, 2002 at the age of 32. His current burial place is unknown but he has a cenotaph located in the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery, Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado. CPT Lopez was one of the American airmen who died in service while assigned at the Spangdahlem Air Force Base, Germany.
