William Allen Brundage was born in 1921 in Wyoming. He resided in Park County, Wyoming prior to the war. William served as a First Lieutenant and Bombardier on B-26 #42-96220, 555th Bomber Squadron, 386th Bomber Group, U.S. Army during World War II. William was promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant on October 6, 1944.
B-26 #42-96220 took off from Beaumont-Sir-Oise, France on a bombing mission over Hengelo marshalling Yard, Netherlands. They were hit by ground anti-aircraft fire and crashed near Eleve, Netherlands during the war. William was "Killed In Action" in this crash. He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated on April 18, 1950. He is now buried in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA in the same grave with 1Lt Marrin and 2Lt Roth. 1Lt Brundage's rank on their headstone is in error as his burial card shows "1/LT".
His name is also commemorated on a monument located at Great Dunmow, England, but his surname is spelled Brubdage.
