Frederick Drea was the child of Irish immigrants father James Drea and mother Mary St Ledger Drea. Frederick was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1886. Served in the British Army in the 10th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers. He fell while fighting in the final battle in Italy in the First World War, The Battle of Vittorio Veneto. He fell on October 28, 1918 at the age of 32. He also served in the Royal Fusiliers and Labour Corps during the war. He left behind his wife, Esther Adeline Drea, née Fawcett, married in 1915.
