John Leshinski was born in 1917. He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on February 20, 1943 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was noted as being employed in the mechanical treatment of metals and also as Single, with dependents. John served as a Private First Class, 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army during World War II. He was Killed in Action on February 19, 1945 during the battle for the recapture of Corregidor, Philippines against the defending Japanese garrison on the island and is now buried in the Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.
