James A. Arnold was born in February 1920 in Craighead County, Arkansas. He was the son of John Edward Arnold and Rosalie McDonal Arnold. James served in Company D, 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment as a Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on February 17, 1945 during the battle for the recapture of Corregidor, Philippines against the defending Japanese garrison on the island and is now buried in the Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.
