Willie L. Anderson was born on February 18, 1922 in Johnston County, Oklahoma. He was the son of William Edgar Anderson and Kate Anderson. Willie served in the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment as a Private First Class during World War II. He died on March 4, 1945 at the age of 23 and is now buried in the Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. PFC Anderson was one of the American paratroopers who fought successfully on Battle for the Recapture of Corregidor, Philippines against the defending Japanese garrison in February 1945.
