George Hubbard Adams, Jr. was born on October 9, 1920 in Texas. He was the son of George and Sophronia Coats Adams. He entered the Army on August 17, 1942 and served in the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. SSGT Adams was Killed in Action on September 24, 1944 at the age of 23, defending the village of Eerde, The Netherlands against German forces. Eerde was liberated on September 24, 1944. He is now buried in the Wofford Cemetery, Frankston, Anderson County, Texas, USA.
