John T. Pirpos was born on November 8, 1924. He enlisted in the Army on April 15, 1943 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. John was one of the Greek-American volunteers who served in Company C, 2671 Special Reconnaissance Battalion, an OSS operational group. This "Greek Battalion" aided the Greek armed resistance in 1944 in their fight against the occupying and then withdrawing German Army. He died on January 7, 1945 at the age of 20 and is now buried in the Hope Cemetery, Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA.
