Gus L. Palans was born on October 6, 1920. He enlisted in the Army on January 28, 1943 in Rutland, Vermont. Gus was one of the Greek-American volunteers who served in Company C, 2671 Special Reconnaissance Battalion, an OSS operational group. This "Greek Battalion" aided the Greek armed resistance in 1944 in their fight against the occupying and then withdrawing German Army. He died on December 6, 1993 at the age of 73 and is now buried in the Appomattox Cemetery, Hopewell, Hopewell City, Virginia, USA.
