Stephen J. "Steve" Cwiklinski was born in 1919 in Gary, Lake County, Indiana. He was the son of Joseph J. Cwiklinski and Stephania Bandla Cwiklinski. Stephen served in the 563rd Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy as a Second Lieutenant and Navigator on 42-31176 "Flak Suit" aircraft during World War II. He died on December 13, 1943 and is now buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom. 2Lt Cwiklinski was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
