Francis H. Curry was born in 1917 in Texas. He resided in Dawson County, Texas prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on October 1, 1940, prior to the war, in Lubbock, Texas. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the production of rubber goods and also as Single, without dependents. Francis served as a Technical Sergeant and Waist Gunner on B-17F "Sondra Kay" #42-5906, 562nd Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

Francis was "Killed In Action" when his B-17, after receiving battle damage on a bombing raid over La Pallice, France, crash landed at Upper Cilgee Farm, Llanyre, two miles from Llandrindod Wells, Wales, during the war. He is now buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom. Tsgt Curry was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
