Reuel Clair Boring was born on February 13, 1921 in Cherry Tree, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Norris Cameron Boring and Eva B. Finley Boring. Reuel was a B-24 ball turret gunner in the U.S. Army Air Forces, 560th Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy and was shot down and captured in Germany. He died on April 29, 1944 at the age of 23 in Germany and is now buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom. He was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
