James T. Berryhill was born on July 18, 1918 in Texas. He was the son of Geater Woodson Berryhill and Martha Hight White Berryhill. He was educated in the public schools of Penelope and North Texas State Teachers' College, Denton. Lt. Berryhill volunteered for service in February, 1942, and was assigned to the Army Air Corps, training in Texas, Iowa, Oklahoma and Idaho, as a Navigator on a B-l7. He was overseas from June 15, 1943, to July 30, 1943, in areas over Germany. He died on July 30, 1943 at the age of 25 in Kassel, Germany and is now buried in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, USA. James was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
