Donald Alva Beckwith was born on May 3, 1913 in Michigan. He was the son of Harry Hamilton Beckwith and Sallie Nourse Beckwith. Staff Sergeant Beckwith attended Cleveland Heights High School and was working for the Sherwin-Williams Co. when he enlisted in June 1942. He went overseas in July 1943 and had been based in England as an engineer-gunner aboard a Flying Fortress. He was killed in a bombing operation over Stuttgart, Germany on September 6, 1943. He is now buried in the Crown Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum, Twinsburg, Summit County, Ohio, USA.
