Harold H. Asmussen entered the military service in New Jersey. He was a B-17 ball turret gunner during WWII, assigned to 388th BG 563rd BS, killed in action on 23 March 1944, flying aboard 42-30808 "Pegasus". He is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupré, Belgium. Harold was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
