Ivar N. Anderson, Jr. was born on March 15, 1920 in Sweden. He enlisted as a Private in Chicago, Illinois on August 3, 1942. Ivar was a B-17 tail gunner assigned to 388th Bomb Group 562nd Bomb Squadron during WWII. He was killed in action on 26 Aug 1944, flying aboard 42-97184 "Lady Godiva" and is now buried in the Cedar Park Cemetery, Calumet Park, Cook County, Illinois, USA. Sgt Anderson was one of the many brave Americans of the 388th Bomber Group who lost their lives in aerial operations against the German forces from June 1943 - August 1945.
