Wilbert L. Unger was born in May 1897 in Mahoning County, Ohio. He was the son of Edward Lewis Unger and Catherine Lorinda Little Unger. Wilbert served in the 136th Field Artillery Regiment, 37th Division as a Wagoner during World War I. Wagoner Unger died on February 13, 1919 in France at the age of 21 due to pleural-pneumonia and is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
