He was Killed in Action on September 21, 1918 in France at the age of 28 and is now buried in the St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France. James also has a cenotaph located in Saint Magnus Cathedral and Churchyard, Kirkwall, Orkney Islands, Scotland.
